Formula E has confirmed that, after the Santiago E-Prix postponement, Saudi Arabia will host the new season’s first two races in late February in a double-header.
The two races will also be held late in the evening and be the first ‘night races’ in Formula E’s history.
This year’s calendar has already experienced delays and postponements as a direct result of COVID-19.
In a statement, Formula E assured fans: “the next set of races [will] be confirmed in early 2021. All calendar updates are subject to the approval of the FIA World Motor Sport Council.”
The first two races of the 2020-21 season will return to the UNESCO World Heritage site in Diriyah, with the all-electric championship back to racing in the historic desert.
This will be the third consecutive year that the Diriyah E-Prix will start the Formula E season.
